New Net Frequency!  Please note that the Sugar Hill ERC Simplex Net will Immediately start using the 146.580 MHz frequency for it's net and any other simplex traffic.  Do not use the old 146.450 MHz frequency.  It causes interference to a repeater in Andrews, NC on 147.045 MHz.

Welcome to the SHERC Website

Welcome to the Saints Helping Encourage Radio Communications (SHERC) Website.  This site is an informal group of Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in the Southeast United States.  This is NOT an official site of the church.  Although, we are all active Amateur Radio licensed operators, GMRS licensees, and/or radio enthuiasts, with a goal of supporting the LDS Church during times of emergencies.

The club is headquartered in North Georgia around Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Hall counties.  The members of SHERC are incouraged to be active in the various ARES groups in and around their counties. Activity in these ARES groups will allow us to be more productive during a disaster or emergency.  Please become active in Amateur Radio and ARES so that you may also be of help to others.

We are primarily focused on Amateur Radio and all its capabilities, goals and technologies.  However, we are also aware of the capabilities and simplicity of all other forms of radio, such as FRS, GMRS, and CB. Each of these forms of radio can be used in a disaster or emergency, if a plan has been laid out and tested regularly. We have plans to use all means available to provide communications with the leaders of the church locally and nationally. So please get involved and don't procastinate your own preparedness!

SHERC Website Templates
Written by Poppell, Bracy (KB3KHP)

The SHERC Website now has two templates to choose from.  A template is simply a different way or style to view the website.  At the request of one user we have added a new template that is geared more towards the government's Section 508 Act which is intended to make it easier to access online information for people with disabilities.  So far using this template we've only been able to make it easier to see the website (larger, better fonts).  If you have found that the website has been difficult to read then please select this new template.

The Template Chooser can be found at the main page at http://www.sherc.org.  You can get to it by clicking Home on the Main Menu.  It will be at the bottom left of the page.  The main template is called sherc_blue.  The new Section 508 template is called sherc_blue_508.  Please let us know if you still have problems viewing the site with the new template.  It isn't perfect yet, but we are trying.
